The awards recognize both professional and student technicians in five categories, who then go on to a public vote to choose grand prize winners.
The TechForce Foundation, in collaboration with Mecum Auctions, opened nominations for the sixth annual Techs Rock Awards, celebrating the achievements of both professional and student technicians.
The awards span five distinct categories: Automotive & Motorsports; Diesel; Collision, Restoration & Welding; Aviation, Motorcycle & Marine; and Evolving Technologies.
Winners in each category will progress to a public vote, culminating in the selection of one student and one professional technician as grand prize winners. These winners will be awarded a trip to Glendale, AZ, to attend the Mecum Auction Glendale and gain recognition from industry leaders at the TechForce National Partner Summit.
David Magers, CEO of Mecum Auctions, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the growing public interest in technical careers and the importance of recognizing those who excel in these fields.
Jennifer Maher, CEO of TechForce Foundation, emphasized the importance of the Techs Rock Awards in celebrating the commitment of technicians who ensure the functionality of essential services in America.
“After five years of honoring students and technicians separately, the sixth annual Techs Rock Awards are the greatest opportunity yet for the industry to recognize their workforce of today and tomorrow,” Maher said.
Since its inception in 2018, the Techs Rock Awards have recognized 75 technicians and technician students, providing more than $131,000 in scholarships and prizes. This initiative plays a critical role in promoting technical education and showcasing the value of skilled technicians.
Nominations for the awards are open until Jan. 14, 2024, and are open to professional transportation technicians and technical students in any of the award categories. The TechForce Foundation encourages institutions and individuals to submit nominations to demonstrate commitment to industry excellence and to foster a culture of appreciation and motivation within their communities.
