A Pennsylvania woman facing transportation challenges received the keys to a newly refurbished vehicle, thanks to the NABC Recycled Rides program and its partners, Faulkner Collision Center and GEICO.
Precious Perry, who works two jobs while caring for her mother, often struggled with unreliable transportation, relying on long walks from bus stops or borrowing her mother’s vehicle. The donation of a 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage, provided by GEICO and refurbished by Faulkner Collision Center in Lancaster, will allow her to become more self-sufficient and expand her job opportunities.
“Thank you so much to you and your entire team for gifting me this car -- it is unbelievable,” Perry said during the presentation. “I didn't tell my mom or my kids about the car, so I am going home to surprise them with it.”
Perry was nominated for the NABC Recycled Rides program by the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg, where she is enrolled in a program aimed at helping individuals achieve self-sufficiency.
Faulkner Collision Center, recognized as BMW’s 2024 National Shop of the Year and holding multiple OEM certifications, played a key role in restoring the vehicle.
“Faulkner takes seriously our role in the community,” said April Lausch, manager of Faulkner Collision Center. “Being a part of this NABC Recycled Rides vehicle donation is one of the most important and most gratifying things our team can do. It truly does help change lives.”
Since 2007, the NABC Recycled Rides program has facilitated the donation of more than 3,500 vehicles, valued at approximately $51 million, to individuals and families in need. GEICO remains the program’s largest donor, having contributed more than 1,000 vehicles.
Other partners involved in the vehicle donation included H&F Tire Service, LKQ, Jeff D’Ambrosio Mitsubishi, Advanced Remarketing Services, Cars for Charity, Copart and Enterprise.
