The SEMA Show's renowned Battle of the Builders competition is set to highlight budding automotive talent like never before. This year, the Young Guns category -- dedicated to customizers under the age of 30 -- will not only see the top 10 finalists chosen, but also give them a unique opportunity to present their vehicles on-stage at the event.

"We’re continually looking for ways to support young talent and foster the future growth of the automotive aftermarket industry," said SEMA Vice President of Marketing RJ de Vera.

The newly adapted format aims to spotlight these young customizers more prominently by allowing them to play a direct role in the judging process, a shift from previous years where only industry experts selected the top contenders.

Introduced in 2016, the Young Guns program has been a pivotal platform for upcoming builders to gain national exposure. The adjustment to this year's format adds an on-stage presentation round for the top 10, followed by a peer-based selection for the top 3 finalists, further emphasizing community and peer recognition within the industry.

Starting Sept. 7-8, young builders have additional chances to shine through virtual Golden Ticket events, which could land them a prize package including travel and accommodations for the SEMA Show, alongside transport for their showcased build.

SEMA Battle of the Builders, now in its 11th year, remains a cornerstone for the SEMA Show, celebrating creativity across four categories: Hot Rod & Hot Rod Truck; 4 Wheel Drive & Off-Road; Sport Compact, Import Performance, Luxury & Exotic; and Young Guns. Each category's top three finalists, determined through a combination of expert review and peer voting, ultimately compete for the title of overall Battle of the Builders champion.

"The automotive aftermarket will unite at the SEMA Show to showcase the hottest parts and latest technology, making it the perfect venue to highlight these amazing builds and emerging talent within the industry," said SEMA Trade Show Director Andy Tompkins.

The 2024 SEMA Show, scheduled for Nov. 5-8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, continues to be a key hub for discovering new products, networking and career advancement within the automotive sector. Early registration, available until Sept. 27, offers savings and benefits for attendees.
