Lucid Group, Inc. announced that CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson is stepping down from his leadership roles, transitioning to the position of strategic technical advisor to the chairman of the Board of Directors. COO Marc Winterhoff has been named interim CEO as the company begins a formal search for its next leader.

Rawlinson, who has led Lucid for more than a decade, cited the successful launch of the Lucid Gravity SUV as the right moment for his transition.

“Now that we have successfully launched the Lucid Gravity, I have decided it is finally the right time for me to step aside from my roles at Lucid,” he said in a statement. “We grew from a tiny company with a big ambition, to a widely recognized technological world leader in sustainable mobility.”

Lucid’s Board of Directors has initiated a search for Rawlinson’s permanent replacement, working with a leading executive search firm. The next CEO will be responsible for executing Lucid’s strategic initiatives and preparing for the company’s next phase of growth.

"On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Peter for his years of service and dedication to Lucid as CEO and CTO," said Turqi Alnowaiser, chairman of the Lucid Board of Directors. "Since launching Lucid in 2016, Peter has been instrumental in the company’s transition from concept to reality and in developing unique, world-leading technology that has defined the next generation of EVs.”

Winterhoff, who now takes the reins as interim CEO, emphasized Lucid’s commitment to advancing production and cost efficiency.

“Lucid’s technology leadership is now well-established and our roadmap well-defined,” he said. “I am honored to step into this role as we enter the next stage in our transformational journey. Our team remains focused on further ramping production of the Lucid Gravity, preparing for the launch of our three midsize platform vehicles, and continuing development of our low-cost Atlas drive unit while we aggressively reduce our costs.”

Lucid’s leadership transition comes as the company continues scaling its production and positioning itself in the competitive EV market.
