A single mother from Colorado Springs, CO, has been given a fresh start, thanks to a donated and refurbished vehicle from the National Auto Body Council (NABC) Recycled Rides program. Lois Bolton, who previously relied on rideshares for work and childcare, was presented with a 2017 Jeep Renegade at Crash Champions-Southmoor in Fountain, CO.

The initiative, made possible through the generosity of insurance provider GEICO and collision repair company Crash Champions, aims to help individuals and families struggling with transportation challenges. GEICO, the largest contributor to the NABC Recycled Rides program, has donated more than 1,000 vehicles since 2007, while Crash Champions has restored nearly 250 vehicles for donation.

Bolton, nominated by Pikes Peak United Way, faced daily hardships due to her lack of reliable transportation. Without a vehicle, she struggled to get to work, transport her children to school, and participate in community activities. The vehicle will take care of her family’s needs and help Bolton look for a second job to help her reach her goals.

The NABC Recycled Rides program has provided more than 3,500 vehicles, valued at approximately $51 million, since its inception in 2007. Businesses across the collision repair industry collaborate to repair and donate vehicles to deserving recipients.

Several additional partners contributed to making this vehicle donation possible, including Widespread Auto Glass, H&H Tire, Perfect Touch Mobile Detailing by Ken Hailey, Automotive Technology Experts (ATE), Discount Tire, LKQ, Larry H. Miller, Advanced Remarketing Services, Enterprise, Cars for Charity and Copart.
