General Motors announced it surpassed 300,000 electric vehicle (EV) sales in the U.S. since 2016, solidifying its position as the second-highest seller of EVs in the country. It has also sold a total of 370,000 EVs sold across North America.
In the third quarter of 2024 alone, GM set a new quarterly record by delivering more than 32,000 EVs in the U.S. -- a 46% increase from the previous quarter and a 60% rise year-over-year.
This growth highlights GM’s comprehensive strategy to expand EV accessibility with vehicles across various segments, from the high-end Cadillac LYRIQ to the rugged GMC HUMMER EV and the affordable Chevy Equinox EV.
“We’re offering great new EV options for almost every kind of driver,” GM said in a statement.
The automaker is working to improve infrastructure by enhancing public charging access and promoting at-home charging solutions. GM's introduction of tools like the GM Energy PowerShift Charger and the V2H Enablement Kit provides consumers added convenience, allowing some EVs to serve as backup power sources.
The company is also planning future releases, such as Cadillac’s OPTIQ and ESCALADE IQ.
