A number of automakers released October sales results on Nov. 1, many of which reported solid increases in total sales over October 2023, particularly among electric and hybrid vehicles.
Hyundai
Hyundai Motor America reported record-breaking total October sales of 71,802 units, an 18% increase compared with October 2023.
Hyundai set total sales records in October for Elantra N (+373%), Santa Fe HEV (+136%), Tucson (+5%), Tucson HEV (+140%), IONIQ 5 (+51%) and Palisade (+27%).
Hybrid vehicle total sales jumped 91%. October was the best-ever month for Tucson HEV in total and retail sales, climbing 15%.
Kia
Kia America achieved both its best-ever October sales, with 68,908 units sold, and best-ever October dealer sales. These records were driven by impressive growth and standout performances across its lineup of electrified vehicles and SUVs.
Sales of Kia's all-electric (EV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and hybrid (HEV) vehicles increased by 70%, 65% and 49% respectively compared to last year, which helped the brand achieve its highest-ever sales for electrified models in October.
Additionally, SUV sales reached a record high for the month, accounting for 73% of total sales.
Three Kia nameplates -- Sportage, Carnival, EV6 -- set new October sales records while four other Kia models -- Sorento (+23%), Telluride (+14%), K5 (+12%) and Soul (+10%) -- posted significant sales gains as compared to the same period last year.
Mazda
Mazda North American Operations reported total October sales of 37,307 vehicles, an increase of 58.7% compared to October 2023. Year-to-date sales totaled 350,759 vehicles sold; an increase of 18.5% compared to the same time last year. With 27 selling days in October, compared to 25 the year prior, the company posted an increase of 47% on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis.
Certified Pre-Owned sales totaled 6,027 vehicles in October, an increase of 25% compared to October 2023.
Subaru
Subaru of America, Inc. reported 54,552 vehicle sales for October 2024, an increase of 1.5% compared with October 2023, when it sold 53,772 vehicles. Subaru also reported year-to-date sales of 548,164, a 5.2% increase compared with the same period in 2023.
Crosstrek achieved its best October ever with 15,928 vehicles sold, a 15.7% increase compared to October 2023. Outback was the second-highest selling carline in October with 13,549 vehicles sold, and Forester sales increased to 13,431 vehicles sold as production continues to reach full capacity.
