Precision For Collision, an equipment supplier that has been serving collision repair shops in Northern California since 1985, recently expanded into new markets in Utah and Idaho.
In addition to selling, designing and servicing equipment, the company also trains and supports technicians in the collision repair industry, and has several distribution partnerships, including Car-O-Liner and Global Finishing Solutions (GFS).
After building its new facility in Salt Lake City, Precision For Collision serves collision repairers in Northern California, Utah, Idaho and most of Nevada.
Nicholas Hinesley, business development manager, said the company is headquartered in Roseville, CA, near Sacramento, and will celebrate 40 years in business in November 2025. It employs a team of 37 between both locations.
He said Car-O-Liner and GFS encouraged the company to consider expanding its area to Utah and Idaho.
“We weren't necessarily interested in expansion at first, but both Car-O-Liner and GFS asked us if we'd like to take on distributorship of those states,” Hinesley said.
Precision For Collision started researching the market about two years ago. “We found the community out in Utah and Idaho weren’t particularly well covered,” Hinesley said. “We just found a major need for our services in that area.”
Since opening the Salt Lake City facility in mid-2023, the company has made “a lot of good partnerships with a lot of the local repair facilities,” Hinesley said. “We started off really strong with all of our connections.”
“Traditionally, in California, it's a lot of old-school knocking on doors and introducing ourselves here locally,” Hinesley said “We're just kind of synonymous with the business.”
Hinesley said the company is taking the same approach in its new markets. “Everything we do is word-of-mouth and traditional knocking on doors,” he said.
Precision For Collision also distributes Goff’s Curtains, Prevost, IRT by Hedson, Eurovac, Betag and CMO, and cuts and sells filters to order.
The company has consultants who will recommend equipment for collision repair shops, based on which OEM certifications the shop has or plans to pursue, or its general needs based on the clientele in the area. The company then assists with producing CAD drawings, permitting and project set-up.
Both the Utah and California locations offer training in full in-house spray booths and prep stations on collision repair techniques, including paintless dent repair and using particular refinish brands. Hinesley said the Utah facility is still only about 85% complete, as the body and paint training areas need to be finished.
Precision For Collision also has a training manager to help shops achieve certifications through I-CAR or its vendors.
Precision For Collision’s Salt Lake City facility is located at 3270 W. Directors Row.
