MWACA-scholarships-2024

The Midwest Auto Care Alliance (MWACA) announced the opening of its annual student scholarship applications, inviting students pursuing a career in automotive service to apply for financial support as they enter the industry.

In an effort to address the persistent shortage of skilled automotive technicians, MWACA, together with the Technicians of Tomorrow Educational Foundation (TTEF), will award at least four $1,000 scholarships to qualifying students.

Eligible applicants must currently be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours within an accredited automotive technology program at a college or vocational school in the Midwest, or be high school seniors enrolled in a vo-tech automotive program with plans to start college by fall 2025. Each applicant must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Applications are due Dec. 6.

Beyond financial assistance, each scholarship recipient will receive a weekend training pass to the VISION Hi-Tech Training & Expo. This event provides recipients the opportunity to participate in technical training sessions and network with industry professionals from across the U.S. Scholarship winners and their instructors will also be honored on stage at the expo’s awards dinner, to be held March 8, 2025.

"The shortage of qualified technicians is a significant issue in the automotive industry, and it’s something MWACA is passionate about solving," said Jerry Holcom, founder of TTEF and former MWACA president. "While there are many reasons behind this shortage, we’re committed to ensuring that financial barriers aren’t one of them. We’re excited to offer these scholarships to help future industry professionals with their tuition and expenses."

Holcom and the MWACA board encourage all eligible students with a passion for automotive technology to submit their applications. More information and application details are available at awards.mwaca.org.
