Jim Shorkey Auto Group has acquired Toyota of Greensburg from Ascent Automotive Group, a division of The Friedkin Group, in a transaction brokered by Kerrigan Advisors, which announced the sale.

The acquisition adds another Toyota franchise to the Pittsburgh-based dealership group’s portfolio, as Jim Shorkey Auto Group focuses on growth in key automotive markets. The family-owned dealership group, founded in 1974, has steadily grown its operations across the Northeast, where its footprint now includes 17 locations.

“We are delighted to announce the successful completion of this transaction for Ascent Automotive, having identified the ideal buyer in Jim Shorkey Auto Group that is well-positioned to uphold the strong legacy that The Friedkin Group has built for Toyota of Greensburg,” said Ryan Kerrigan, managing director at Kerrigan Advisors.

Toyota of Greensburg, located in the affluent Southeast suburb of Pittsburgh, has played a key role in the local automotive market since Ascent Automotive acquired it in 2011. Under its ownership, the dealership received the Toyota President’s Award for six consecutive years from 2017 to 2023. The dealership benefits from Pittsburgh’s economic growth, fueled by $3.7 billion in investments, 13 Fortune 1000 companies, and a thriving workforce that includes more than 145,000 college students.

Toyota remains a dominant force in the Pittsburgh market, achieving 15% sales growth in 2024, the highest among all volume import franchises. The brand leads the industry in sales per franchise and continues to be the most sought-after dealership brand, as highlighted in the 2024 Kerrigan Dealer Survey.

“Not surprisingly, Toyota franchises are among the most sought after in the industry. Their effective inventory management, strong dealer-OEM partnerships, robust fixed operations and consistent profitability make them extremely desirable in the current market,” said Erin Kerrigan, founder and managing director of Kerrigan Advisors.

This marks the second Toyota franchise sold by Kerrigan Advisors in 2024 and its 37th Toyota dealership sale overall.
