Boyd Group Services Inc. announced the temporary closure of 99 Gerber Collision & Glass repair centers due to the recent impact of hurricanes Helene and Milton. The closures, which occurred across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, were implemented both in compliance with mandatory evacuation orders and to allow employees time to prepare for the storms.

“In order to allow our employees to focus on ensuring that they and their families are safe, we are continuously evaluating decisions on whether to temporarily close and when to re-open certain locations,” said Timothy O’Day, CEO of the Boyd Group. The company is working with local teams to assess damage and resume operations as soon as possible.

The closures include 47 locations affected by Hurricane Helene in late September, and 52 locations temporarily shut down due to Hurricane Milton. In addition to closures, Boyd’s repair centers have experienced flooding, power outages, damage to buildings and vehicles and blocked access roads, further complicating recovery efforts. Vehicles undergoing repairs have also been damaged, with some declared total losses due to the storms.

The financial impact of these closures, including lost sales and repair delays, remains unclear. Boyd Group plans to provide a more comprehensive estimate when it releases its third-quarter earnings report Nov. 5.

“Our thoughts are with those affected by these devastating events,” O’Day added. "We will continue to monitor the situation and support our employees and customers during this challenging time."

The company continues to assess conditions and will reopen locations when it is safe and practical to do so.
