AkzoNobel announced the appointment of Marya Salim as regional marketing director for its North America Automotive & Specialty Coatings (ASC) business unit. Reporting to John Griffin, North America regional director and commercial director of ASC, Salim will oversee marketing strategy development, branding, pricing and promotional activities across several key business segments.
“Marya brings extensive experience developing strategy, growth plans and brand positioning to AkzoNobel,” Griffin said in a statement. “She will help lead our business to continued success.”
Salim’s responsibilities will include managing marketing efforts for AkzoNobel’s Vehicle Refinish, Commercial Vehicle, Automotive and Sign businesses. She will also contribute as a member of the ASC Americas Management team, furthering the company's mission to maintain its leadership in the coatings industry.
With more than 18 years of global marketing experience, Salim has held leadership roles at major multinational corporations such as British American Tobacco and Jacobs Douwe Egberts. Her career spans regions including Europe, Asia and Latin America, providing her with a broad perspective on international markets and strategic growth.
Salim holds an MBA and has been recognized for her expertise in market analysis and brand positioning, skills she aims to leverage to drive AkzoNobel’s competitive edge in North America. The company anticipates that her insights will enhance its presence in the automotive and specialty coatings sector, strengthening its relationships with industry partners.
