Hennessey Special Vehicles announced its intention for the Venom F5 hypercar to exceed speeds of 300 mph in 2024, as the company celebrates the 10th anniversary of its Venom GT setting a world record as the fastest production car.

A decade ago, the Hennessey Venom GT captured the world's attention by achieving a top speed of 270.49 mph, surpassing the previous record held by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Today, the Texas-based manufacturer is gearing up to once again redefine the limits of speed with its latest creation, the Venom F5.

Boasting a twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers a staggering 1,817 bhp, the company has already made strides in development, with the hypercar achieving speeds over 270 mph in tests conducted at the former NASA Shuttle Landing Facility in Florida.

"I love that Koenigsegg is gearing up for big speed, I hope that Bugatti joins the party too -- it’s rivalries like this that fuel our passion, and drive us to go faster, innovate more, and push harder!" said John Hennessey, company founder and CEO. "With 22 customer cars delivered and a newly expanded engineering team, we’re well placed to refocus our attention on enabling the Venom F5 to deliver on its potential.

“Our hypercar has a simulated theoretical top speed of 328mph, but we’re certainly not chasing that number," Hennessey continued. "Breaking 300 mph in two directions is this year’s goal, while hitting 310.8 mph in one direction would be the ultimate way of celebrating the internal combustion engine!”

The company has made recent strategic hires, including former AMG ONE Chief Engineer Brian Jones and record-setting racing driver David Donohue.

Jones referred to the Venom F5 as "a perfect demonstration of "peak combustion," combining immense power with a lightweight carbon chassis to optimize acceleration and aerodynamics.

Donohue, who brings more than three decades of racing experience to the team, will lead the high-speed testing and record attempts. His expertise and achievements in motorsports, including wins at prestigious events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Rolex 24 at Daytona, make him an invaluable asset in Hennessey's quest for speed supremacy.

While the Venom F5 Coupe editions are sold out, Hennessey continues to offer a limited selection of build slots for open-top and track-focused variants, inviting enthusiasts and prospective clients to become part of this historic journey towards redefining the limits of hypercar performance.
