In an industry where skilled technicians are in constant demand, watching the next generation find their footing is both rewarding and essential for our future. At JDM Collision & Calibrations, we are committed to fostering young talent, ensuring the craft of automotive refinishing is passed down with precision and care.
One of the most inspiring stories in our shop comes from Diego Ramirez, a recent graduate of Kennedy King College who joined our team in October 2024. Captured in the accompanying photo, Ramirez is seen meticulously polishing the side of a GMC Sierra -- a testament to his dedication and the progress he has made in just a few months. Under the guidance of our paint team leader, Samantha McCauley, Ramirez and his fellow entry-level technicians are developing skills that will serve them for a lifetime.

McCauley’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping these young professionals. Before joining JDM, she was an instructor at Lincoln Tech in Melrose Park, IL, where she honed her ability to teach and inspire students in automotive refinishing. Her experience as an educator, combined with her hands-on expertise, has created an environment where our new technicians can thrive. Seeing them grow under her mentorship is not only heartwarming -- it’s a glimpse into the future of our industry.
Much of this success can be attributed to structured training pathways, including the invaluable role of I-CAR in shaping tomorrow’s technicians. Through rigorous educational programs and industry-recognized certifications, I-CAR has been instrumental in setting the foundation for young professionals like Ramirez. Their commitment to elevating industry standards ensures that collision repairers receive the knowledge and training they need to excel.
As we look ahead, it’s clear that investing in entry-level talent is more than just a necessity -- it’s a responsibility. The dedication of leaders like McCauley, combined with the opportunities provided by I-CAR, is paving the way for a new generation of highly skilled technicians. Watching Ramirez’s journey unfold is a reminder of why we do what we do: to preserve the integrity of our craft and to inspire those who will carry it forward.
At JDM Collision & Calibrations, we’re not just repairing vehicles -- we’re building the future of our industry, one technician at a time.
