Waymo One will be available in new communities in both the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles County.

Waymo-California-expansion

Waymo is expanding its autonomous ride-hailing service, Waymo One, to more areas in California, reaching new communities in both the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles County. The expansion includes Daly City, Broadmoor, and Colma on the Peninsula, as well as Marina del Rey, Mar Vista and additional parts of Hollywood, Chinatown and Westwood in Los Angeles.

“Our team is laser focused on refining Waymo One to be as seamless and useful as possible for our riders,” said Saswat Panigrahi, Waymo's chief product officer. “This means offering exceptional ride quality, short wait times and more exciting destinations.”

Since removing the waitlist for San Francisco rides in June, Waymo has seen a surge in demand. The San Francisco service now covers 55 square miles, connecting major areas like Fisherman’s Wharf to the Daly City and Colma BART stations. In Los Angeles, more than 150,000 people have signed up for the service since its launch in March, with riders consistently rating their experiences above 4.7 out of 5. Waymo’s LA service now spans 79 square miles.

Waymo One is rapidly scaling across multiple cities, with more than 50,000 paid rides per week across San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix. The company has also launched fully autonomous curbside airport pickups and drop-offs at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. To date, Waymo vehicles have driven more than 20 million miles fully autonomously and have completed over 2 million paid trips.

As Waymo continues to grow, its impact on road safety becomes increasingly evident. “Today’s designated driver comes in many forms, and Waymo’s expansion across the San Francisco Bay Area and LA County offers an exciting new option for Californians to choose a safe ride home,” said Patricia Rillera, MADD California state executive director and LA resident.

Waymo’s expansion is built on years of rigorous testing and a commitment to safety, ensuring that as the service grows, it continues to offer reliable and secure transportation options to a broader audience.
