The USAA Board of Directors announced the appointment of Juan C. Andrade as its next president and CEO, effective April 2.
Andrade has served on USAA’s Board of Directors for the last four years and brings nearly 40 years of leadership experience as a public servant and in the financial services industry. This uniquely positions him to uphold and advance USAA’s 102-year legacy of service, ensuring the association remains strong for future generations of members.
During his tenure on USAA’s Board of Directors, Andrade has served on key committees focused on members, risk, financials and technology. He was also vice chairman of USAA’s Advisory Panel, a forum established for board directors and teammates to interact with members and improve the company’s service.
A global, industry leader at multinational companies, Andrade has built high-performing teams, delivered strong business outcomes and successfully navigated complex market challenges.
Andrade joins USAA from Everest Group, Ltd., where he served as president and CEO since Jan. 1, 2020. At Everest, he transformed the company into a more globally diversified enterprise with a focus on profitability, efficiency and risk management. He also fostered a strong culture of collaboration, entrepreneurship and innovation, while keeping customer service, enhanced by technology and data-and-analytics-driven insights, at the forefront.
Prior to Everest, Andrade was president of Chubb’s international business in more than 50 countries, president and COO at The Hartford and a general manager at Progressive. Earlier in his career, Andrade worked in national security, international affairs and drug policy within the federal government’s Executive Branch and the Executive Office of the President.
“USAA is a special association, and the board took great care to find someone with the right expertise, vision and leadership. Juan has a deep respect for our men and women in uniform, having served alongside them to help safeguard our national security,” said USAA board chair, Vice Admiral (U.S. Navy Ret.) Jim Zortman. “We know he will continue his track record of building high-performing teams and enhance USAA’s legacy of service.”
“I’m excited to build upon USAA’s legacy and continue innovating to add value to our members’ experiences and help more military families achieve financial security,” said Andrade. “I admire the association’s dedication to the military community and their families. Witnessing firsthand the outstanding service the team provides to our courageous service men and women, I am honored to lead USAA in its second century of service.”
Andrade succeeds Wayne Peacock, who announced his retirement in August 2024 after leading USAA since 2020.
“I’m grateful to Wayne for his leadership as CEO and his 36-year commitment to the association,” said Zortman. “Wayne is a transformational leader who has propelled USAA forward, advocated for the military community and their families and fostered an environment where employees can be a part of something bigger than themselves. His dedication to our mission, members and Team USAA has positioned the association to meet members' needs for generations to come.”
