A Rancho Cucamonga, CA, woman caring for her mother and two young relatives received a fully refurbished 2019 Nissan Rogue, thank to the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Recycled Rides program, along with car donor GEICO and collision repair partner Fix Auto.

Karishma Velasco-Valdevinos faced a series of devastating challenges over the past 15 months, including a car accident that totaled her vehicle, the loss of a contributing family member, and an unexpected rent increase. The donated vehicle will allow her to get to work and ensure the children she cares for can attend school regularly.

“Fix Auto Chino is very proud to be a part of the NABC Recycled Rides program,” said Selvi Rizk Menard, owner of Fix Auto Chino. “We are excited to kick off the new year and our new location by giving back to a deserving recipient in our community. Our team put their time and effort into repairing the car, and it is gratifying to see our work make a difference in someone’s life.”

GEICO, a longstanding supporter of the NABC Recycled Rides program, has donated more than 1,000 vehicles since 2007. Fix Auto Chino, whose technicians restored the vehicle to like-new condition, also has a strong tradition of community giving under Menard’s leadership.

Velasco-Valdevinos was nominated by the Hope through Housing Foundation.
Additional support for the presentation came from Cars for Charity, Copart, Advanced Remarketing Services and Enterprise.

Since its inception in 2007, NABC Recycled Rides has donated over 3,500 vehicles valued at more than $50 million. The program unites businesses from across the industry to repair and donate vehicles, providing reliable transportation to individuals and families in need.
