A Waukegan, IL, business owner is facing multiple drug and weapons charges after police say he was selling narcotics from his auto repair shop, according to CBS News Chicago.
Officers from Waukegan’s Community Crimes Division executed a search warrant at Victor’s Auto Repair Shop, located at 701 Belvidere Road, early Feb. 19. According to police, they suspected Victor Montes De Oca Lopez, 63, of operating a drug operation from his business.
Authorities stopped Lopez while he was leaving his home, where they discovered he was driving on a revoked license. A subsequent search of his shop revealed 31 grams of cocaine, 59 grams of cannabis and a loaded revolver in a separate location. Police also reported finding $11,094 in cash on Lopez’s person.
Lopez now faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver within 500 feet of a park and a school, and weapons offenses.
Authorities also noted that Lopez had been arrested previously on drug and firearm-related charges in 2023.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue gathering evidence in the case.
