Harry’s Auto Collision Center, a staple in Los Angeles since 1974, commemorated its 50th anniversary with a grand celebration attended by 200 guests at its 1013 S. La Brea Ave. location. The event highlighted the center's journey from a modest 400-square-foot shop to a sprawling 90,000 square-foot facility servicing high-end vehicles.

Founded by Harry Barseghian, who immigrated to Los Angeles in 1970 with limited English and only $100, the center has grown significantly over five decades.

"The incredible opportunities I found in the United States were rare in most parts of the world,” Barseghian told the Beverly Press.

The celebration took place on a rooftop, featuring a green Rolls Royce beside a stage adorned with blue and white balloons, under the emceeing of TV journalist Wendy Burch. The venue, divided into two levels, provided guests with comfort during the warm weather, with one level being air-conditioned.

Barseghian's personal journey and business ethos were central themes during the event. He shared insights into his early days as a young entrepreneur in America, emphasizing the values of persistence and hard work imparted by his father. “My father taught me to be persistent,” he said. “He said, 'Go like a turtle, not like a rabbit. Winners do not quit.'"

Barseghian credited his wife, Alvard, for her support in maintaining their home while he focused on the business, contributing significantly to their success. "Because we have had peace in my family, we have made it to 50 years in business," said Barseghian.

The celebration was a look back at the past as well as a gathering of community and longstanding clients, including local politicians and business leaders. Among the attendees were Los Angeles City Council President Paul Krikorian and former State Assemblyman Adrin Nazarian, who joined the festivities and praised Barseghian’s contributions to the community.

The event also served as a reminder of the deep personal connections Barseghian has fostered over the years, with many early customers remaining close friends.
