Boyd Group Services Inc. announced a leadership transition as CEO Timothy O’Day prepares to step down, effective May 14, 2025. Brian Kaner, the current president and COO, will assume the CEO role following the company’s Annual General Meeting on the same day.
O’Day, who joined Gerber Collision & Glass in 1998, has played a large role in Boyd’s growth since the acquisition of Gerber in 2004. Under O’Day’s leadership, Boyd expanded its operations across the U.S. and Canada, positioning itself as a leading operator of collision repair centers in North America.
“This leadership transition provides a logical opportunity for Boyd to announce the company’s next long-term growth goal in early 2025, as Brian prepares to lead the company through its next phase of growth and development,” O’Day said.
Kaner joined Boyd in 2022 as COO of collision operations, bringing with him extensive leadership experience. He previously served as CEO and president of Pep Boys & Icahn Automotive Services, overseeing more than 1,800 locations. He also held leadership roles at Sears Holdings Corporation.
“I am honored that the Board has selected me as Boyd’s next CEO and I am extremely excited for our future,” Kaner said.
The transition comes after a formal succession process led by Boyd’s Board of Directors. Dave Brown, independent chair of the board, praised both leaders. “Brian is well positioned to lead our company through its next phase. I would also like to thank Tim for his excellent and unwavering leadership of Boyd over the last many years,” Brown said.
O’Day will remain with Boyd in an advisory role through the end of 2025.
