Kevin’s Auto Repair, a staple of its community in Huntsville, AL, for 35 years, has officially transitioned to new ownership, as founder Kevin Call sold the business to his son Christopher.
Kevin Call, who began his career in the auto repair industry after losing a job as a technical writer, built his business from the ground up.
“I was a young man at the time, and [my friends] said you ought to go around these folks’ houses and change their oil,” Call told WHNT News.
From this modest start with Easy Oil Change, he grew the business into Kevin’s Auto Repair, known today for its strong customer relationships and skilled team of 12 employees.
Christopher Call, who worked in the shop for 13 years, took over ownership in December. Despite pursuing a degree and initial career in counseling, Christopher Call eventually found his calling back at the family business.
“My dad has built this business over 35 years… God has brought us from an easy oil change truck to this property with all these bays and 12 employees and wonderful customers,” he told the news outlet. “When it’s not broken, don’t fix it.”
The elder Call has no intention of stepping away completely, promising to remain involved in the shop on a reduced schedule. His enduring passion for cars ensures his presence will still be felt, even as he hands over day-to-day operations.
