A 2003 DodgeRam 1500 owner who was riding in the front passenger seat of the truck was killed May 13 when the Takataairbag inflator exploded in a crash.

Fiat Chrysler (FCA) has issued a "DO NOT DRIVE" warning for 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks that have not had their Takata airbags replaced.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed the fatality was caused by a ruptured passenger-side Takata airbag inflator, and it involved one of 385,686 trucks recalled in 2015.

A Hondabrake booster and tie-rod fastener recall involves more than 124,000 vehicles with brake master cylinders that could detach. This means a driver may suddenly find the vehicle has no working brakes.

The tie-rod fastener that connects the brake booster and master cylinder may not have been put together correctly during manufacturing. Honda says this can cause the brake master cylinder to separate from the booster assembly.

Teslahas initiated a recall for the Model 3 and Model Y over a potential fault in the affected vehicles’ pyrotechnic battery disconnect.

Unlike previous recalls from the electric vehicle maker, this particular issue can not be fixed through an over-the-air software update.

Nearly 100,000 KiaSportage SUVs are recalled because they could lose their power brakes.

The recall involves 2023 Kia Sportage vehicles equipped with brake booster diaphragms that become misaligned which can cause internal vacuum leaks.

Fordhybrid engine problems have caused a second recall of Ford Escape Hybrid, Ford Maverick Hybrid and LincolnCorsair Hybrid vehicles.

More than 125,000 recalled 2020-2023 Escape, 2022-2023 Maverick and 2021-2023 Lincoln Corsair hybrids are equipped with 2.5L hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) engines.

FordBronco front seat belt problems have caused a recall of more than 175,000 Broncos with five-door body styles.

The 2021-2023 Broncos have front seat belt latch plates which may be difficult to access from their stowed positions.

A ToyotaCorolla Cross recall involves nearly 110,000 non-hybrid SUVs, and Toyota warned not to allow anyone to sit in the passenger seats until the Corolla Cross SUVs are repaired.

The recalled 2022-2023 Corolla Cross SUVs have passenger airbags that may not deploy properly.

A General Motors exploding ARC airbag recall includes about 995,000 BuickEnclave, ChevroletTraverse and GMCAcadia vehicles that need new driver's airbag modules.

The 2014-2017 Buick Enclave, 2014-2017 Chevrolet Traverse and 2014-2017 GMC Acadia airbag inflators supplied by ARC Automotive could explode, even in minor collisions.

Security Fix Doing Little to Slow Down Hyundai, Kia Theft Rates

The software Hyundaiand Kiareleased nearly three months ago to prevent vehicles built without engine immobilizers being stolen has so far not made a dent in theft rates, the Associated Press reported May 9.

The AP analyzed data from seven U.S. cities, which it said shows the number of thefts is, in fact, still growing. Only Denver reported a decline in the theft rate of Kias and Hyundais compared to 2022---23%---but its rate is still high.

Part of the issue is the slow rollout; only about 5% of eligible Kias and 6% of Hyundais have received the update, the AP said.

A Ford Ranger airbag recall involves about 232,000 trucks that previously received front passenger airbag inflator replacements.

But 2004-2006 Ford Ranger owners will have to go through all of it again because Ford says the replacement inflators may not have been installed properly.

GM Recalls 40,400 Chevy Trucks for Fire Risk

General Motors is recalling a total of 40,428 Chevrolet medium-duty pickup trucks due to a fire risk.

GM notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the safety recall April 14.

The affected include 2019-2023 model year 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD units.

The brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause an electrical short-circuit.

Consequently, an electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked.

Volkswagen Group has reportedly alerted its dealers across the U.S. and Canada to pause selling its ID.4 fully electric SUV. The automaker said the doors on some of the electric crossovers could potentially open while the vehicle is moving slowly. There's not yet a solution for the issue.

Volkswagenis recalling 143,053 examples of the 2018-2021 Atlas and 2020 Atlas Cross Sport because the front passenger airbag might not deploy in a collision. The automaker advises owners not to ride with anyone in the passenger seat until the repair is complete.

Audiis recalling more than 1,000 2022-2023 A8 and S8 vehicles because the front passenger airbags may not have been folded correctly.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recalled 637 2022-2023 LucidAir sedans with issues in their contactor switches.

“Lucid USA, Inc. is recalling certain 2022-2023 Air vehicles. The electrically activated contact switches that transfer energy to the drive motors may unexpectedly open, cutting off power to the electric motors,” the NHTSA said.

Hyundai Motor America and Kia America have issued recalls for more than 570,000 vehicles, urging owners to park their vehicles outside and away from homes and other structures until the recall is remedied.
