Portland firefighters were battling a two-alarm fire at Mike's Auto Body Shop in southeast Portland, OR, the night of February 11, 2014. The fire broke out shortly after 10 p.m. at 6004 SE 52nd Avenue.
Firefighters arrived to find the auto body store with heavy smoke pouring from roof vents and also realized there were apartments above the business.
With the size of the building and the possibility of people sleeping above the business in consideration, fire officials decided to upgrade the response to a second alarm.
Residents of the apartment above evacuated the building without injury.
The fire was extinguished and firefighters are now assisting arson investigators with sifting through the scene to determine a cause and damage assessment.
No injuries to residents or firefighters reported. The business was closed at the time the fire was reported.
