CA Assembly Insurance Committee Advances AB 1679

On April 19, the California Assembly Insurance Committee unanimously voted in favor of Assembly Bill 1679, which would weaken antisteering regulations that took effect earlier this year.

Assembly Bill 1679 would reportedly enable insurers to recommend a DRP shop to a customer even if the insured has stated that they want to have their vehicle repaired elsewhere. Additionally, the bill would alter the standard for conducting labor rate surveys.

The bill is now headed for the Assembly Committee on Appropriations, though a hearing date has not been set.
