2 Dead, 6 Injured After Shootout at Houston Auto Repair Shop

Houston shooting

Two people are dead and six are injured after a shooting May 29 at an auto shop in a west Houston neighborhood.
One of two armed suspects was killed, police spokesman John Cannon said. The other was wounded and taken to a hospital, where officers were still working to determine his role in the shooting.
Acting Police Chief Martha Montalvo said police think that one suspect shot the other and that the second was shot by a SWAT officer.

A 50-year-old man who was a customer at Memorial Drive Tire & Auto Center was fatally shot in his car, Cannon said. Two wounded men and one woman were hospitalized, but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Two Houston officers were also shot, but union officials say they should be OK. One officer was wounded in the hand, and the other was hit several times in the chest, but police say he was wearing a metal breastplate and a bulletproof vest.
