HUNTINGTON - The following information was provided by reports from the Cabell County Sheriff's Office:

EMBEZZLEMENT: Advanced Auto Parts accused an employee of embezzling approximately $12,400 between April and September 20 from the store's chain in the 5700 block of U.S. 60 in Huntington.

Deputies met with a corporate investigator on September 20, who told police he had received a written statement from the suspect admitting he had taken $12,400 over the six-month period by making false returns on individual and commercial accounts. The investigator provided police 26 receipts Tuesday, totaling $3,448.60 in fraudulent refunds as the internal investigation continues.

As deputies arrived at the store around 5:45 p.m. that day, the suspect fled the business and could not be contacted. No arrests have been made and no formal charges have been filed.
