On Feb. 27, the Women’s Industry Network (WIN®) hosted its second Atlanta Regional Meeting, attracting 14 attendees---two of which were men.

The meeting was organized by WIN’s Cheryl Boswell and Michelle Sullivan, and was held in Covington, GA, at the office of the Doan Group, a women-run-and-owned company whose office was converted from an old horse stable.

Boswell shared, “It has been our goal for years to kick off regional-type meetings to ‘bring’ WIN to our members’ local markets and to provide opportunities for more people to be able to participate in WIN events. These meetings also give our members and potential members the chance to network and to support each other. As with all WIN events, we selected topics that our members want to learn more about.”

The meeting featured a panel that consisted of Axalta’s Erin Tallant, Jasmine Storey of Nationwide Insurance and BASF’s Sheila Principio. These ladies shared stories about their journeys in the industry, including challenges they have faced. They offered advice for young women entering today’s industry, discussed opportunities for the next generation and shared insights into finding good job candidates.

“The common theme was to believe in yourself, set your sight on your goals, learn all you can and execute with confidence. Throughout the discussion, you could tell all three ladies are very passionate about this industry,” Boswell said. “Our hosts were Amanda Hughes, Katie Pharr and Sally Doan from the Doan Group. Petra Schroeder, WIN Chair, joined us for the event. As with the first meeting, the attendees thoroughly enjoyed the discussion and are anticipating the next regional meeting. We are fortunate that someone has already offered to host the next meeting. Support from our sponsors helps us execute these events. We want to expand our membership and bring more benefits to our members, and we couldn’t do it without the sponsors.”
