Chrysler Expects to Restart Plants

Chrysler expects to restart production at certain plants by the end of June. The automaker stopped production at all its North American plants when it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection April 30.

"A majority of the plants will come back up in the last week of June," said Steven Landry, executive vice president of North American sales and marketing at Chrysler. While Chrysler's sales fell 46.9% in May from a year earlier, Landry said inventories of some models, such as the Jeep Wrangler and Chrysler Town & Country minivans, are running low.

The sale of Chrysler assets to Fiat and the UAW could happen as soon as Jure 4.
