MA Appeals Court Upholds Dismissal of Wrongful Death Suit Against Body Shop

On August 28, the Massachusetts Appeals Court upheld the dismissal of a wrongful death suit against All-Star Collision Center on Boston Street in Salem.

The lawsuit stemmed from the 2012 drunk driving accident that killed 19-year-old Danvers resident Dillon Renard, who was a passenger in a car driven by Angelique Griffin that hit an illegally parked tow truck, reported

Griffin, a Salem resident, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison with a six month home confinement after pleading guilty to motor vehicle homicide.

Lawyers for the Rennard family filed suit against Griffin, the host of the party Griffin was drinking at, and All-Star Collision, according to the Salem News.

The lawsuit claimed that the body shop was negligent in the parking of the tow truck, making it liable for Rennard’s death, according to the Salem News.
