The group, along with Make-A-Wish Missouri, raised funds to send 13-year-old Maddox on his dream vacation to Disneyland. Representatives from CARSTAR and Make-A-Wish presented Maddox and his family with a $5,000 check to grant his wish on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Maddox is battling Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He adores his stuffed Mater (a character from the Disney movie Cars) and the history of Disney and looks forward to having his dreams fulfilled by going to Cars Land at Disneyland. Maddox also enjoys playing soccer and football and riding horses at Heartland Therapeutic Riding.
"Wishes like Maddox’s lift kids and their families up at a time that they need it most and help them forge ahead with hope, strength and joy," said Patrick Duncan, chair of Make-A-Wish Missouri’s Kansas City Development Board.
The MoKan CARSTAR Business Group is comprised of 14 auto body shops in the Kansas City metro area. The business group hosted a fundraising golf tournament in August at Staley Farms Golf Club to raise the funds to grant 13-year-old Maddox’s wish. The MoKan CARSTAR Business Group is a part of a network of over 475 auto body shops in the U.S. and Canada.
