Bud Whitcomb, owner of BudCo Custom Body and Paint of Kooskia, expanded his fleet in an effort to better serve Idaho County and boost the local economy.
As of July 1, 2016, BudCo added five tow trucks to its fleet, ranging from small to heavy duty. Previously, the company fleet consisted of two trucks. Among the additions was a truck capable of towing small- to medium-sized cars, one USP truck, and one log truck.
And Whitcomb says his company does more than just offer a tow.
“We offer all types of auto body work,” he said, making them a full-service business. “We are a small state-of-the-art facility in this small rural area.”
Budco offers precision color matching, collision repair, frame straightening, buffing, detailing, and windshield replacement, among other services. They handle heavy trucks and “totals” as well as passenger vehicles.
BudCo employs a nine-person crew. Whitcomb said he is proud to staff his shop with qualified individuals trained on the most advanced equipment in the industry.
‘We’re trying to adapt for people who need work in our area,” Whitcomb said.
Whitcomb participates in the Idaho State Police and Idaho County Sheriff’s Office tow rotation. However, he notes, the public can request a specific company, if it is their preference. He is hopeful residents will allow BudCo the opportunity to provide services.
Can’t take off work to pick up your vehicle? Not a problem. Whitcomb says his staff will deliver.
He also notes BudCo services a territory from Kooskia to Lewiston, the Montana border and McCall. He has also traveled to the Coeur d’Alene and Spokane area to retrieve vehicles.
“We’re here to provide a service. Quality of work is huge for me,” Whitcomb said.
Budco is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located at 1352 Ridgewood Drive, Kooskia. The phone number is 791-9959.
