Garden City, NY Man Ordered to Pay Restitution in Tax Fraud Case

A Garden City man was ordered to pay more than $27,000 in restitution, in exchange for jail time, on charges of tax fraud because he failed to remit sales tax receipts earned at his New Hyde Park body shop, officials told Nicole Fuller on on April 25.

The former operator of New Hyde Park Auto Body Works on 801 Second Ave., 62 year old Gerald Losquadro, was sentenced April 27 to a conditional discharge and ordered to pay $27,588 in restitution to the state, according to a new release from the New York Department of Taxation and Finance.

Losquadro was charged last year with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, and third and fourth-degree criminal tax fraud on allegations that from September 2009 to December 2010 he collected $27,588 in sales tax from his customers, but did not remit it to the state, Fuller reported.
