Firefighters Rescue Worker Pinned by Van at Paterson, NJ Auto Shop

A man was left pinned between a vehicle and a steel barrier when the van he was working on rolled off a lift on April 25. It took firefighters a half hour to free him.

The man was conscious and alert during the entire ordeal, which took place at a body shop on Straight Street, near Van Houten Street, Deputy Fire Chief William Henderson told nj.com.

Henderson added that around 9:30am, fire crews used a hydraulic spreader to help remove the man. When the van rolled off the ground-level lift, the man was standing in front of it.

Authorities told nj.com that the man was taken to an area hospital, but his condition was not immediately available.
