Students at Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School in the automotive collision repair course have taken on a project to repair a rescue boat, reported Deb Kiner, pennlive.com.
The students are refurbishing a New Cumberland River Rescue boat used to search for Medard Kowalski, 17, according to school officials. Kowalski, a student at Cedar Cliff High School, went hunting on the river in a canoe on December 1 and has been missing since.
School officials told Kiner that the carpet in the bottom of one of the boats used to carry search dogs was damaged by the dogs' nails.
Collision repair students are removing the carpet before Line-X of Mechanicsburg installs a bedliner. The boat will then be put back together by the students. T
he project has been incorporated into the technical students’ daily curriculum, reported Kiner.
