John Perozzi Jr. graduated with a degree in microbiology from Wake Forest University.
He smiles when he talks about being the owner and CEO of Beacon Auto Body in Pennsauken, the business his father started in 1948.
"I contemplated going to medical school, but I wasn't ready to go back to school for that many years.
"So now I like to say I'm well-rounded. I'm excellent at cocktail parties."
Perozzi's father, John Sr., was one of the first paratroopers to land in Normandy on D-Day, and he helped liberate the French town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise. He also fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
"My father had a seventh-grade education. After the war he got the GI Bill and opened this business in 1948," Jr. says. "He retired when he was about 88. He's 94 now, and he still keeps busy around his house and in the yard."
Beacon employs a staff of 12 — some have been there more than 30 years — and annual revenue is "more than $1 million," says Perozzi.
