Hamden, CT Body Shop Damaged by 2-Alarm Fire

An auto repair shop on Benton Street in Hamden was damaged on the morning of August 1 around 7:20 a.m.

A neighbor reported heavy black smoke coming from the building, which houses MadCity Auto Repair and one apartment, reported foxct.com.

Due to the potential storage of body shop paints, solvents and multiple automobiles stored inside the repair shop, a second alarm was called.

The fire, which had been contained in the shop, was under control within an hour.

The single apartment resident had exited the building unassisted and the repair shop was unoccupied at the time of the fire, reported foxct.com

No injuries were reported. The one resident that was displaced had been relocated with friends.

Hamden Fire Department is investigating the cause.
