The majority of that money was raised during its annual Race for Automotive Education, held January 13 & 14, 2015, at ProKart Indoors, Burnsville. It will fund scholarships for automotive students enrolled in NATEF-certified mechanical and collision repair programs in Minnesota.
During the course of the two-night event, 120 racers faced off in state-of-the-art European karts, reaching speeds of nearly 40 miles per hour. Many fans and spectators were also on hand to cheer their teams on. In all, 24 teams of mechanical and collision shops and industry suppliers were represented.
Trophies were awarded to the following victors:
Tuesday, January 13
- First Place - Superior Service Center, Eagan (Team 3)
- Runner - Up - Pearson Auto Body, Shakopee
Wednesday, January 14
- First Place - Lancer Service Auto Care, St. Paul
- Runner - Up - LaMettry’s Collision, Richfield (Team 1)
“This event not only raises money for a very worthy cause, but serves as a unique and fun team-building activity for the shops that participate,” said Judell Anderson, AASP-MN Executive Director. “There’s no doubt that the competitive spirit is alive and well among AASP-MN member shops!”
