Business adviser and former CARSTAR CEO Dick Cross delivered the ASRW opening general session presentation Thursday, October 11, in New Orleans. Cross challenged the audience to ask themselves the unasked question, “How do you run a business?” He summarized a trifocal approach to leadership and management that includes creating a vision, developing a strategy, and then properly executing the developed vision and strategy.
“It was a great pleasure to have Dick Cross open the 30th Anniversary general session,” said Ron Pyle, ASA president. “He delivered a practical and easy-to-implement plan for success. I am sure everyone in attendance agrees that he was extremely motivational and an excellent choice to kick off this very special ASRW.”
Cross, author of the best-selling book, Just Run It!: Running an Exceptional Business is Easier Than You Think, is the founder and managing principal of The Cross Partnership III, a Boston-based “hands-on” consulting and turn-around firm focused on improving the operating and financial performance of businesses owned by financial sponsors. The presentation was sponsored by DuPont Performance Coatings. Upon the conclusion, keynote attendees—led by a New Orleans second line jazz band and Grand Marshall—proceeded to a crowded opening of the ASRW Expo.
